And that raises a serious point – why are we, as clients, here? Sure, it’s easy to say “Hey, dummy, it’s because I like…” or something of that sort, but that’s not really it. You can get your lizard brain urges, like sleeping, eating, or having sex satisfied pretty much anywhere, quite easily. Why do we hire Dreams companions rather than going for something easier and cheaper?

We’re professional types; we understand value. You pay little or nothing for something, and you get little or nothing back. Lee talks a lot about “return on investment.” That’s a true concept. We want value for money, but we know that you do pay for quality. Why hire a companion and worry about quality, when we presumably just want “one thing”? Because we’re intelligent people and we want more than just to satisfy our lizard brain’s needs – we have higher needs that we need to meet.

The word “companion” says a great deal about why we’re here. A companion may not be a close personal friend, but is still someone who’s with you, someone who listens intelligently and uncritically. Many of us don’t have that need met at home, or don’t have other people who meet it elsewhere. Dreams companions do that – when they’re with you, you’re the center of their attention, and they listen. If you’ve had the experience of “I’m out the door when you’re done” or had to listen to a “paid friend” who either wanted to share all their problems with you or had nothing to say, you know exactly why that’s important. The “you get what you pay for” sort not only don’t always leave you relaxed, by the way – they can also leave you with surprises you didn’t expect that only cause more stress, as well as expenses you didn’t need. They also won’t call you and leave crazy messages on your cell phone, or any of the other things that certain other low-class types do to make things worse later. You want stress relief, not surprises you don’t need from someone you didn’t know before and wish later that you hadn’t met.

The other day I was conversing with a client about the problems he was having in his life and business. Most of Dreams’ clients are rather successful individuals not only in business but to some degree in their personal lives as well. This is not to say their lives are ideal but there is a common thread about the type of man we attract.

This client, let’s call him George, was hitting a ruff spot in his life and career and things were beginning to go south. The one thing he has always been impressed with is the professionalism and consistency of Dreams personnel. Hey what owner wouldn’t love to get compliments about his people I know I do. He said, “I wish I had the kind of success with my people you have with yours.”

I thought about that for a second and I said “Well, why don’t you?” He sighed for a second and said exactly what I knew he would say, “ I don’t know”.

Now, I don’t know what your belief system is nor am I privy to your specific model of the world. After all, as the saying goes “there is no reality only perception”. But for a moment, I invite you to enter my reality or personal delusion and walk with me.

There is an axiom, which I believe and it applies to one’s personal life as well as business. ‘Who you are, is whom you attract.’ There is a common perception that you as a business owner will just go forth and find the kinds of people you want and the truth is it really doesn’t work that way. Yes you can have a laundry list of qualities and objective qualifications but in the end most often you draw people who possess the same qualities you do. The inverse of this truth also applies, you will attract individuals who also possess the same challenges. Are there exceptions to this concept? Hell yes! And you can be assured barring conscious interference the rule will win out more often than not.

We can list off the keys to success after all most of you know them. However, there is one crucial part few talk about … Self image.

So many people go through life and they not only don’t know who they are, but also don’t know what they stand for? If you don’t know who you really are as a person, have a clear sense of defined self then in essence, you are lost and you’re just going through the motions. I dare even say, you my friend are just existing.

OK, lets say then the latter is true, here you are in your life and you’ve just discovered you are lost. Sadly, this didn’t just happen and if you’re married that relationship most likely is just a daily habit or at worse yet another obligation. Self-image is one of the determinants of success and failure in life. One of the elements of training for Dreams people is the concept of self-image and the ideal self. Then there is the perceived self of how one sees themselves and finally the real self of who you really are.
